Your Address Book stores all your email contacts, in preparation for the Email Invitations distribution method for your project.

Answer Option(s)

The answers you have provided for respondents.

Answer Randomization

A method of automatically changing the order of answers for each respondent.


This acronym stands for Application Programming Interface: a set of subroutine definitions, protocols, and tools for building application software. This software is used to access the features or data of an operating system, application, or other services.

Average Quiz Score Table

This table summarizes respondent quiz scores, providing data concerning:

  • Total responses
  • Average scores
  • Maximum number of attainable points
  • Average percentage of people who scored the maximum points

Automatic Numbering

A setting that applies chronological numbering to your questions.


Programs used to navigate the World Wide Web, e.g. Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox.


A sheet of information in the form of a table, graph, or diagram.

Question Quick Menu

Provides additional options and settings for questions and results.


Those you choose to invite to contribute to your project.


This feature is also referred to as Cross Analysis or Segmenting. It allows you to compare two filtered sets of data side-by-side. These comparisons are drawn from the questions you will have asked.

Consent Page

The purpose of a consent form is to gain the permission of, or make an agreement with, a respondent. They will also serve as evidence of this permission or agreement.

Contact Form

Contact Forms are designed to collect personal information from respondents. This information is usually comprised of:

  • Name
  • Company/ Job/ Occupation
  • Address, City/Town, State/Province/ County
  • Zip Code/ Postcode
  • Country
  • Email Address
  • Phone Number


Potential respondent information stored in the Address Book.


Data sent between servers and browsers to identify and track users.


The mutual connection, or relationship, between two things.

Custom Field (Address Book)

This space in the address book can be sued to store further information on your respondents or to personalize messages in your project. This is only available for the Email Invitations method of distribution.

Custom Score Messages

Customized messages displayed to respondents whilst they’re filling out quizzes. These are usually at the 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100% marks.


The Project Dashboard contains all your existing projects; Surveys, Quizzes, Forms, and Polls. This is also where you can create a new project.


The information gathered from respondents.

Data Table

This feature will present you with the averaged results from all respondents for each question. You will also be provided with a possible three sets of statistics:

  • Standard Deviation
  • Responses
  • Weighted Average

Note: These statistics will not be provided for all question types, as some answers can’t be analyzed numerically.

Disqualification Page

This term is used when respondents are sent to an Exit Page via a qualification question.

Drag Handle

Appears when you click or hover over, a question in your survey, form, or quiz. This feature does exactly what it says on the tin, allowing you to move the corresponding question to any other place in your project.

Drop-down List

A vertical list of interactable options, that opens when clicked.

Email Tracking [Tracking]

A way of tracking respondents who have been invited to complete your project using the Email Invitations method of distribution.


Incorporating text or code within a file or site.

Exit Pages (Thank You Pages)

These are the last pages that respondents will see before they exit your project. They’re simply a way to thank respondents for their time, and/or inform them of their disqualification.

Export (Project)

Transferring data in a format that can be used by other programs.

Extremes (Scales)

This term refers to the polar ends of scaled question types, e.g. ‘Very Bad’ and ‘Very Good’.


Used to separate and view specific sets of data in your results.


A set of ‘type’ of one particular style and size.


This is one of the available project types, usually used to gather personal information on respondents. E.g. Contact Form/ Information Request Form.

Hidden Field

Used to pipe text into your project, using Querystring or JavaScript API.


A link from one document to another location, activated by clicking a highlighted word or image.

Image Library

The Image Library stores any photos you’ve uploaded to the site.

Individual Results

A section of your results, where you can view the results from an individual respondent.

Input Limitation [See Comment Box article]

Control what type of information participants can input. Toggle between ‘None’ (no Input Limitation), ‘Numeric’ (only numbers can be input), ‘Email’ (only email addresses can be input), and ‘Web Address’ (only URLs can be input).

JavaScript API

A method of embedding your project onto a website.


A classifying name or phrase used to organize your projects.

Locked Questions

Questions that have already gathered results, and therefore cannot be edited without deleting those results.

Likert Scale

Measures experiences and attitudes along a linear scale, e.g. ‘Strongly Disagree’ to ‘Strongly Agree’.

Logic (Question and Page)

The term Logic refers to the way respondents can be directed through your project. This is to say that you can oblige participants to skip certain sections of your project or disqualify them from completing the survey if you have determined that it doesn't concern them. You can also require respondents to give consent use of their information, or request further information in relation to what they have already provided.


A small symbol, design, or image used by organizations as a form of identification.

Matrix (Matrices)

A set of rows and columns that are treated as a single entity. (Matrices is the plural for matrix.)

Multi-Select (Questions)

Those question types where respondents can select more than one answer.

Multi-Factor Questions

Scaled Question Types, where there is more than one question or scale to consider, relating to the same topic. We provide three types of Multi-Factor question types, they include Matrix (Common Scale), Multi-Factor Scale, and Multi-Factor Slider.

‘Other’ Answer Option

An ‘Other’ answer option provides respondents with an interactive text box, in which they can provide a customized answer to your question.

Passing Data In/ Out

A term referring to how data is taken from a source and stored with the response data.

Page Description Field

The field available for your page description to be entered.


There are two types of pages available to you in constructing a project; Question Pages and Exit Pages (Thank You Pages). Question Pages store all your questions, whilst Exit Pages are the final destination for respondents and are usually used to thank them for their time.

Page Title Field

The field available for a page title to be entered.

Participant (See Respondent)

People who complete your project.


A file format for sending documents in the exact style you created them, avoiding format changes that other alternatives may incur changes.

Picture Choice Questions

Question Types that include or concern images.

Points (Quiz)

The value given to each correct answer in quizzes.


Assessment of public opinion by questioning a target population. These are especially popular in the political sector.

Progress Bar

This bar illustrates to respondents how much of the project they have completed so far. It will appear at the very top of your project, and will not be interactable in any way.

Presentational Items

These elements can be sued to improve the organizations, and visual design, of your project. They include:

  • Heading
  • Text
  • Image
  • Video
  • Restart Form Button

A set of characters used in coding to recover specific information.

Question Field

The field available for question text to be entered.

Question Numbering

The chronological numbering of questions in your project.

Rating Heat Bar

A bar that accompanies the Opinion Scale Question Type. It is used to indicate the positive/ negative ends of the scale and is not interactable.

Report Elements (Customizing Report)

The page items used to customize your Quick Report. They include:

  • Question Data
  • Heading
  • Text
  • Image
  • Filter Info


People who complete your project.


The answers, and sets of answers, given by respondents.


The final stage of your project, where your Quick Report and respondent data are located.

Question Page

These page types are used to contain your questions.

Question Types

This phrase refers to the selection of available question formats. You can find a full list here.

Quick Report

The section of your Results that houses all responses to your project. It can be customized using the Report Elements.


Tests of knowledge; where answer options are assigned points, and respondents are scored.


A method by which experiences and opinions can be measured, by assigning weight or value to each segment of the scale. It will consist of two ‘extremes’ that represent either end of the scale.


Lists of commands, implemented by certain programs or engines.

Script Tag

These usually contain scripting statements or direct to external script files. They’re used to define a client-side script.


The distribution step of your project.


A computer, or program, that, manages access to a centralized resource or service in a network.


The interactable menu on the left of the screen. This bar will contain different elements depending on which section of the site you’re on.


A scaled question with an interactable bar.

SMPT Settings

These are to be used when you wish to use your own servers for sending email invitations for your project.

Social Media

Websites and applications that enable users to create and share content or to participate in social networking.

Source Text (Piping)

The answer text that is piped into a new question or answer space.

Standard Deviation

Quantifies the amount of variation in a data set. A low standard deviation indicates that the data points tend to be close to the mean of the set, while a high standard deviation indicates that the data points are spread out over a wider range of values.

Single-Select (Questions)

Questions where only one answer can be chosen by respondents.


A data type used in coding to represent text rather than numbers. They are usually comprised of sets of characters, which can contain spaces and numbers.

Target Population

The specific demographic or group of people you may be tailoring your project towards. They are the main focus of project distribution.

Target text (Piping)

The field to which text is piped. This could be a question or answer field.

Text Formatting

The process of organizing or customizing text.

Textarea Height

The available space (lines) available in text boxes.

Text Piping

The term ‘Text Piping’ refers to the ability to insert information into a section of your project, that has been collected by a previous question or external source.

Text Responses

Responses gathered from Text Box Question Types. In the Quick Report, these responses are not accompanied by a Data Table or Chart.

Theme (Legacy)

These are the available visual designs for your project.

Timer (Quizzes)

A time limit that can be applied to quizzes. Any response which is not fully complete before the time limit is up will be automatically submitted.

Top Bar

This is the bar found above your project, it will contain different features depending on where you are on the site.

Tracking Field

These are used to contain information on respondents; First Name, Last Name, Email Address, and Custom Data.


A specific design of type.


Those who have chosen to unsubscribe from your email list. This means they will be excluded from any future project campaigns.


The address of a web page.

Weighted Average

This average is determined by the importance of individual figures within a data set. The higher percentage of times a number or answer is chosen by respondents, the more influential it becomes in calculating a weighted average.
