Columns Content Block

Use the Columns block to place between one and four other content blocks in the same row.

In this article, you'll learn how to add columns place blocks next to each other in your emails.

Insert a columns block

To add a columns content block to your email:

  1. Click the Content tab in the left sidebar
  2. Click and drag the Columns block into your email
  3. When you see a bold blue line, drop the columns into place

Change the number of columns

By default, column blocks will contain one column. You can change this by:

  1. Click the Columns block
  2. Navigate to the Columns section of the options slideout
  3. Select one of the column formats

For example, if you choose the second columns option with two next to each other, your columns block will change in the editor:

Add blocks to columns

To add content blocks into your new columns, follow these steps:

  1. Click the Columns block (the Add Content button will appear for all columns in that row)
  2. Click Add Content (this opens the Content Blocks Slideout)
  3. Click and drag in a content block
  4. Drop the block into one of the available columns

It's not possible to drop a columns block into a column that already exists in your email.

Changing the number of columns whilst you have content in place may result in you losing some content. It's important to note that if you reduce the number of columns (e.g. from 3 to 2), the columns on the right will be removed first. Adding new columns will not affect your existing content.

Customizing columns

You'll have several options for customizing your columns, universally and individually.

To access these customization settings, simply click the columns block in the email editor.

Columns

As we've covered above, this section allows you to add and remove columns from the row.

Column properties

From this section, you can customize the design of each column individually.

Customize Column Content Blocks

To switch between columns, you can click the tabs labeled Column 1, Column 2, etc.

You'll be able to customize the following options:

  • Background Color: Use the color box to change the background color of a single column.
  • Padding: Use the + and - icons to increase and decrease the padding inside of the column block (Enable More Options to edit the top, bottom, side border roundness individually).
  • Border: Add a border around your column. Use the dropdown to switch between solid, dotted, and dashed borders. Change the border width with the + and - icons. Use the color box to set the border color. Enable More Options to customize each side individually.
  • Border Color: Use the color box to set a color for your column border.

Your customizations may not be displayed as intended until you add a content block to a column.

Row properties

From this section, you can customize the design of the row your columns are contained in.

  • Background Color: Use the color box to select a color for the row that columns are contained in. This will be the background color around the columns.
  • Content Background Color: This is a global setting for the background colors of the columns themselves. If you have a background color set for the individual columns in the Column Properties section, the Content Background Color will be overridden.
  • Background Image: Set a background image for the row. Uploading an image will give you access to the following options:
The background image will be displayed over the row background color but behind the Column and Content Background colors.
    • Full Width: Enabling this will place the image in the background of the row in the full size it was uploaded in. Disabling this will shrink down the image to fit behind the columns themselves.
    • Repeat: Enabling this will duplicate the image until the entire row background is covered.
    • Centre: Enabling this will centre the image. Disabling it will align the image to the left.
  • Padding: Use the + and - icons to increase and decrease the padding inside of the row. (Enable More Options to edit the top, bottom, side border roundness individually).
